Araiza was selected by the Bills in the sixth round of this year's draft.
This season he will start for Buffalo after winning a preseason punting contest.
It was reported by ESPN that the Bills were informed of the lawsuit in late July.
Neither Buffalo nor the victim have been contacted, according to The Athletic.
The Bills released a statement on Thursday following the lawsuit's public disclosure.
While Araiza won't play tonight, he's in the Bank of America Stadium building.
